Eddie McGuire has spoken out after Karl Stefanovic gave a brutally honest assessment of the French, calling them ‘rude, arrogant and sexually strange’.
The TV show’s presenters are both in Paris for the Olympics and both for Channel Nine, and Eddie says he has the ‘opposite’ view of the city to his colleague.
“I love the atmosphere, the people are great, the food is delicious and the drivers are welcoming,” he says Adelaide now.
“I can’t wait to get to the end so I can drink some fantastic French wines. The shops, the sights, the history, the fashion (are) inspiring,” he continued.
‘Beautiful exhibitions of Rodin and Picasso, shops and fashion, really beautiful.
“The games were inspiring and ambitious. It’s everything I hoped Paris would be. I love it, I love Paris, Viva La France.”
Stefanovic shared his observations after spending time in Paris for the Olympic Games, where he covered the sporting spectacle for the Australian broadcaster.
“The French are weirdos. The French are complete weirdos. We all know that,” he told the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday.

“It’s a strange country, sexually.”
Jackie Henderson then asked Stefanovic if he had tried speaking French with the locals, to which the presenter gave a short answer.
“You know what? I don’t try anymore. I don’t really like them that much,” Stefanovic said.
“They’re so rude. Oh, they’re really into themselves… they’re arrogant. They do make a good burger. I like the burgers and stuff here.”
Stefanovic is staying in an Airbnb accommodation with his wife Jasmine and daughter Harper.

The family faced criticism after Jasmine thanked Channel 9 in a social media post following a dinner at the luxury Parisian restaurant Girafe Restaurant.
Followers of the Stefanovics pointed out that network staff had been fired during the meal.
Last Thursday, the 49-year-old was spotted showing off her daughter Harper’s athletic prowess during a stay in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The father-daughter duo were spotted running through the streets, with the Today presenter using a small stick as a makeshift obstacle for his four-year-old toddler.
It comes just days after Karl’s wife Jasmine revealed that she and their daughter Harper are celebrating in style by accompanying him to the Olympic Games in Paris.

Jasmine, 40, who is in France with her husband to report on the Games for Channel Nine, shared several photos on social media showing the luxurious accommodation.
The trio appears to have struck an Airbnb sponsorship deal, as Karl and Harper are seen in a photo lounging on the chaise lounge.
Another photo shows a spacious bedroom, complete with a king-size bed and stunning views of the city.
