Maria Wavinya was born on February 27, 2001, making her 23 years old. She was born in Nyandarua County, Kenya. Her early life was marked by significant challenges. Raised by her single mother in Mombasa, Maria lost her mother in 2013, when she was only 12 years old. Following this tragedy, she was raised by her grandparents in the village.
Education
Maria attended Sasumwa Primary School in Kinangop and Mary Mother of God Primary School in Kilifi before moving to Manunga Secondary School in Kipipiri.
For her high school education, Maria attended St. Teresa Manunga Girls High School in Kinangop.
Later, she pursued a diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy and also studied mass communication at Mount Kenya University. Additionally, she completed a cabin crew course at Kenya Airways.
Pageant Life
Maria’s entry into the world of pageantry began with her participation in Miss Tourism Nyandarua in May 2019, where she placed fifth.
Her major breakthrough came when she was crowned Miss World Kenya 2019 on October 5, 2019, during an event held at Two Rivers Mall.
Maria then represented Kenya at Miss World 2019 in London and advanced to the top 12.
The model is signed under The Aftermath Modeling Agency and is known for her work as a kids’ modeling trainer and choreographer.
Khalif Kairo has also hinted that Wavinya Maria is a great cook and that she has helped him reduce his daily food budget from KSh. 2,000-3,000 to just KSh. 330.
