Role Overview

The Child Protection Specialist – MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) will play a key role in expanding and managing global MHPSS projects, providing technical support on community-based MHPSS and Child Protection programs, and contributing to global coordination mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Development: Oversee and implement MHPSS interventions in line with UNICEF’s commitments and global standards.
  • Partnership Management: Develop and manage partnerships with UN entities, humanitarian partners, government institutions, and civil society organizations.
  • Technical Support: Provide guidance to NGO and UN partners on UNICEF policies and best practices related to child protection and MHPSS.
  • Coordination: Contribute to global Child Protection and MHPSS networks, co-lead working groups, and represent UNICEF in global task forces.

Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced University degree in psychology, social work, international development, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in child protection and MHPSS at national or international levels.
    • Experience in humanitarian contexts.
    • Experience in program/project development and management, including budget and partnership management.
    • Experience in community-based MHPSS and Child Protection Case Management.
    • Desirable: Experience in global inter-agency coordination and working in a UN system agency or organization.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English. Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
