Charlene Ruto collecting views on President Ruto’s recent X space with Gen Zs

First Daughter Charlene Ruto is actively gathering public views and thoughts following the recent ‘Engage with the President’ session on X, which aimed to connect President William Ruto with the youth.

Taking to her Insta stories, Charlene thanked those who participated in the three-hour session urging them to air their views from the talk.

“Good evening dear ones and happy Monday. Thank you so much for taking your precious time over the weekend to share with me some responses to my query about our President’s X engagement,” she wrote in her first post

The First Daughter continued by inviting more feedback from those who listened to the session.

“If you listened to ‘#EngageThePresident on X, I am interested to know your thoughts,” Charlene wrote, encouraging her fans and followers to share their views.

Charlene shares responses

Charlene shared a variety of responses from her followers, both humorous and serious insights.

“The engagement was cool, but what Kenyans are insisting is the end of corruption, job opportunities,” one follower said.

“I don’t buy anything he promised… The main issue is accountability and misappropriation,” another one said.

In reply to some of the feedback, Charlene urged people to be patient and a fair assessment of her father’s efforts.

“Why don’t you give him a chance to work and gauge the results after some time?” she responded.

In a lighter exchange, a follower joked asking Charlene to get her father a phone holder for his desk.

“Si you buy him kitu ya kishikilia simu kwa desk yawa,” the user said.

Speaking on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Charlene addressed a group of university youth leaders from all 47 counties, identifying herself as part of Gen Z.

“I stand before you today not just as the President’s daughter but as one of you, a young Kenyan passionate about our country’s future,” Charlene said.

She condemned the looting and vandalism that occurred during the protests, expressing her dismay over the lack of peace in recent times.

“I hear your voices, I understand your concerns, and the challenges we face as a generation are real and pressing,” she said.

Charlene highlighted the rising cost of living and the unemployment crisis affecting many educated youth as significant issues.

“We are all feeling the impact of the current economic situation,” she stated.

She commended the Gen Zs for voicing their concerns and participating in the national dialogue.

Charlene urged the youth to understand the complexities of governance and encouraged them not only to criticize but also to propose solutions to the problems.

She pledged to work alongside Gen Zs and encouraged them to engage in dialogue to find solutions to the current challenges.

Some youth leaders expressed their willingness to engage in dialogue as suggested by Ruto, who had recently withdrawn the contentious Finance Bill 2024 following intense protests.
