Prices for both models of Microsoft’s upcoming handheld Xbox consoles have supposedly been leaked ahead of an official announcement.
Reputable retail insider extras1s released a video on June 13, in which they claimed to have heard from “two European retailers” that the Xbox ROG Ally and Xbox ROG Ally X will retail for €599 and €899, respectively.
Additionally, extras1s claimed that pre-orders for both consoles are scheduled to open in August ahead of an October release. It’s worth stressing that neither Microsoft nor manufacturer Asus has commented on these specifics, and they should be taken for what they are: rumors.
If accurate, though, a rough currency conversion would price the cheaper Ally at around $700. The premium Ally X, on the other hand, would be around $1,000.
Comparison to ROG Ally
Asus has previously released platform-agnostic ROG Ally handhelds not associated with Microsoft or Xbox. These first hit the market in 2023 and retailed for $599 and $699. In 2024, the electronics manufacturer announced the ROG Ally X with a price tag of $800.
While not identical, the rumored Xbox Ally prices align somewhat accurately with Asus’ previous hardware releases. Should extras1s’ claims prove accurate, the more expensive Xbox versions launching in 2025 could be explained by the use of more powerful hardware.
Conversions are just that, however. Even if the leaked price for European markets is on the money, it doesn’t mean US retailers will follow suit with a direct price mirror.
