The liberal media was thrown into crisis on Sunday afternoon after it was announced that Democrat Joe Biden had withdrawn from the 2024 presidential race.

CNN’s Van Jones burst into tears during a live broadcast when discussing Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race and give the Democratic ticket to Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, Rachel Maddow gave a lengthy speech to viewers on MSNBC, saying that Biden’s decision not to run was not what he really wanted. Instead, he did it for the good of the country.

She said Sunday: “I can’t see anywhere in his personality where this decision is possible today. This is the opposite of something that is natural or easy for him.”

“He’s just not built to do something like this. The fact that he’s making this decision today is to give the country a reasonable chance of not bringing Donald Trump back into the White House.”

Viewers were stunned to see Jones’ tears on television. One tweeted: “Van Jones is crying on CNN because of what Biden has selflessly done for his country.”

Another wrote: ‘Van Jones crying on CNN is pathetic. Grow up man.’ While a third added: ‘Van Jones crying on CNN again. Get that guy out of here.’

MSNBC host Maddow said last month that she fears Trump will put her in an internment camp if he is re-elected in the upcoming election.

In an interview with CNN senior reporter Oliver Darcey, Maddow was asked about her concerns that she could personally become a victim of the Trump administration if he wins the 2024 presidential election.

“Trump and his allies have talked openly about using the government as a weapon to retaliate against critics in the media and politics, with some of his extremist allies even talking about locking up their fellow Americans,” Darcy said. “You are one of his most visible critics on television. Are you concerned that you could be a target?”

Maddow responded: “I’m concerned about the country as a whole when we put someone in power who openly admits he wants to build camps to house millions of people and ‘wipe out’ what he calls in inhuman terms his ‘enemy within.’”

“Again, history is helpful here. He’s not kidding when he says this, and we’ve seen what happens when people take power and push those kinds of agendas.”

“I think there’s a little bit of a bury-your-head-in-the-sand complacency that Trump only wants to go after individual people that he’s already identified. Do you really think he’s going to stop at well-known liberals?

“It also seems pretty clear that some people in politics think they’re on the safe side — that they might even benefit — by siding with Trump. Just ask Mike Pence how that plays out.

“If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act on his first day in office to deploy the U.S. military against civilians, do you think he will rescind the order on his second day?

She continued: “What convinces you that these huge camps he’s planning are just for migrants? So yes, I worry about myself — but only as much as I worry about all of us.”

President Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race on Sunday, setting in motion an unprecedented series of events that will leave Democrats scrambling to field a top candidate with less than four months to go until Election Day.

The Democratic National Convention kicks off in Chicago from August 19 to 22. Biden is expected to formally accept the nomination there after winning 3,896 delegates in the primaries.

More than 4,600 delegates and thousands of other party officials will now travel to the city without Biden as the presumptive nominee for the Democratic ticket.

The president made this known in a letter to his countrymen, in which he wrote that it was the greatest honor of his life to serve as president and at the same time express his support for Vice President Kamala Harris.

“While it was my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and the country that I step down and focus solely on fulfilling the duties of my president for the remainder of my term,” he wrote.

His announcement came just weeks after the president’s disastrous debate performance raised doubts about his fitness for a second term.

Some Democratic lawmakers publicly called on him to withdraw from the race. Others kept their opinions private.
