- Rachel Minaya, the wife of former Mets GM Omar Minaya, was found dead
Rachel Minaya, the wife of former New York Mets general manager Omar Minaya, was found dead in their New Jersey home on Saturday. New York Post is reporting.
Omar was not home when she died, a source briefed by the family told the Post.
It is striking that suicide has been ruled out as the cause of death.
The couple had two adult sons. One, Justin, is a basketball player who played for both the Portland Trail Blazers and their G-League affiliate during the 2023-24 season.
Omar has been with the New York Yankees since 2023 as a senior advisor to general manager Brian Cashman. He previously served as general manager of the Mets from 2004 to 2010 before returning to Queens as a special assistant.
He also served as an executive for the Montreal Expos and worked as a scout for the Texas Rangers.
