Mercedes Corby, sister of convicted drug smuggler Schapelle, has become a jet-setter since her return to Australia.

The 50-year-old mother of three quietly moved back to the Gold Coast in 2016 after living in Bali for more than a decade. She wanted to be closer to her sister after Schapelle was released from prison in 2014.

Since moving with her three children, Wayan, Nyeleigh and Nyoman, after divorcing her Balinese husband, Mercedes has kept a relatively low profile.

However, her public Instagram page provides insight into her enviable jet-set lifestyle of the past few years, complete with countless interstate and overseas travels, as well as stays in hotels costing over $1,000 a night.

From lunch and dinner dates with her girlfriends to weekend getaways in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as cruises and trips abroad, Mercedes has fully embraced her life Down Under.

Her sister Schapelle, who has maintained her innocence after she was jailed for nine years for attempted cannabis smuggling Indonesia also experienced the journey of a lifetime through Europe in recent weeks.

Mercedes has long had a passion for travel and enjoys adventurous activities such as paddle boarding and surfing. When abroad, she often spends time at the beach.

Mercedes’ most recent international vacation was a trip to Japan with her friend Celia Allard. On Instagram, she gave her 19,000 followers a behind-the-scenes look at the trip.

The stunning photos showed the couple taking in the sights of Tokyo’s vibrant Shibuya and Harajuku districts and making the most of their wonderful trip.

During the trip, the couple also visited the tranquil Shibu Onsen, a traditional hot spring town in Yamanouchi with nine relaxing public bathhouses.

Mercedes also shared photos from their trip along the beautiful Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a mountain route between Tateyama, Toyama and ÅŒmachi, Nagano.

There the two admired the vast Kurobe Dam, which Mercedes said brought back memories of her first trip there 31 years earlier.

The pair also explored the sights of Mount Tateyama, one of Japan’s three sacred mountains, along with Mounts Fuji and Haku.

Mercedes is certainly no stranger to luxury holidays abroad and enjoyed a stunning cruise around Fiji with her sons in March.

While documenting the journey, Mercedes posed with a big smile next to her youngest son Nyoman on the deck of the cruise ship.

The devoted mother beamed from ear to ear as she put her arm around her beloved son, who flashed a smile for the camera.

In 2019, Mercedes also made a stunning trip to Rarotonga, the largest of the Cook Islands, where she happily posed with an unknown mystery man.

During his stay there, Mercedes stayed at the luxurious Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas, which offers two-bedroom beachfront villas from $1,048 per night.

She has also been on holiday to New Zealand several times and showed off the stunning views from her epic trip on Instagram.

Although she left her life in Bali behind in 2016, Mercedes proved she still loves the Indonesian location when she visited again in 2019.

She was accompanied on the trip by her beloved sons and shared photos of herself SUPing with Wayan Jr. and Nyoman.

Mercedes also shared a photo of herself preparing to brave the waves at Toro Toro Reef, getting in the mood for adventure.

Mercedes looked completely in her element as she posed in her wetsuit while holding the surfboard she was about to surf on.

Mercedes came into the public eye shortly after her sister Schapelle was arrested in Bali, Indonesia, in October 2004, where 4.2 kg of marijuana was found in her boogie board.

She was often photographed visiting her sister, who was imprisoned in Bali’s notorious Kerobokan Prison.

Schapelle spent nine years in Bali’s Kerobokan prison after being found guilty in May 2005 of smuggling marijuana into Indonesia.

The former beauty student, now 47, was released on probation in February 2014 and deported back to Australia in May 2017. She now works as a watchmaker and influencer.

After Schapelle was released on parole in 2014, the Corby sisters kept a relatively low profile.

Mercedes briefly pursued a career as a model and appeared on the cover of the now defunct men’s magazine Ralph in 2008.

After previously living in Bali, Mercedes moved back to the Gold Coast in Queensland in August 2016.

She then opened a tapas restaurant, but unfortunately it closed again the following year.

Mercedes is a mother of three children and has sons Wayan Jr. and Nyoman and daughter Nyeleigh with her ex-husband Wayan Widiartha.

After Mercedes split from Widiartha in 2014, she is now said to be dating someone else.
