A Utah father crashed his car and killed his girlfriend when he tried to kiss her while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Chase Allen Bosshardt, 32, of Toquerville, was driving on Highway 10 north of Minneapolis on July 19 when he fell to Ashley Cheyenne Jones in the fatal kiss.
A witness told police the Kia Soul was “traveling so fast it bounced as it went over the potholes in the road” before swerving to the left and ending up in the path of a BMW SUV traveling in the other lane.
Jones, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Bosshardt was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, where he was charged with second-degree murder.
He is scheduled to appear in Sherburne County District Court after he is released from the hospital.

Bosshardt told an officer he had been smoking marijuana and drinking until 6 a.m. the night before.
He also said that Jones, from Mountain Ranch, California, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
When he woke up on July 19, he went with Jones to McCoy’s Pub in Elk River, where he drank one large beer but ate nothing before getting into his car, he told police.
But a staff member told investigators that Bosshardt drank two large beers, a small beer and a mixed drink at the bar before the couple left.
When he was tested in his hospital bed, he was still above the legal limit of 0.8 percent alcohol in his blood. He admitted to “making out in the car before the accident.”
A Minnesota State Police report states that Bosshardt was turning left from the westbound lane when the collision occurred.
Jermarquis Echols, who was driving the BMW, said he hit the brakes when he saw the Kia pull in front of him but was unable to stop in time to avoid the crash.
The 46-year-old man from Afton, Minnesota, was traveling with his partner Jennifer Reich, 45, and their 17-year-old daughter Elliana. They were all treated for minor injuries at the same hospital as Bosshardt.

An Elk River police officer said he saw a large cloud of dirt and debris in the air when he arrived at the scene seconds after the crash at 3:39 p.m.
Bosshardt, an office manager in Vivint’s security department, married his ex-partner in 2015 and is said to have two young children.
