A tragic accident resulted in the deaths of two people on a road in Pluak Daeng, Rayong when a black saloon car veered across lanes and collided with a pickup truck. The crash left the saloon car torn into two parts, with the driver ejected and killed instantly. The incident, which also involved a white delivery pickup, has raised questions about the sequence of events that led to the collision.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ekachama Thongyu, Deputy Inspector at Pluak Daeng Police Station, responded to a report of a collision involving three vehicles. The accident took place on the road between Nikhom Phatthana and Mae Nam Khu, in front of the Rayong Central Prison.

Upon reaching the scene, police found the black saloon car split in two. The driver, identified as 28 year old Kanyarat, was found outside the vehicle with severe head injuries and a broken neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, 67 year old Saengchan, was found unconscious and covered in blood. Despite receiving CPR from first responders and being rushed to Pluak Daeng Hospital, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The grey pickup truck involved in the accident was found with significant front-end damage. Approximately 20 metres away, a white delivery pickup truck was parked, showing signs of collision damage on its front side.

Thitiphong, the 34 year old driver of the grey pickup, recounted his experience.

“I was driving from Nikhom Phatthana when suddenly the saloon car lost control and crossed into my lane, hitting me directly. Fortunately, I wasn’t injured.”

Sumet, the 29 year old driver of the white delivery pickup, shared his perspective.

“I was driving normally from Pluak Daeng at a considerable speed and didn’t see where the saloon car came from, which led to the collision.”

Initial investigations by law enforcement suggest that the saloon car might have been exiting from the Rayong Central Prison without adequately checking for oncoming traffic, resulting in a severe crash. However, police plan to conduct further investigations and interviews with both pickup drivers to determine the precise cause of the accident, reported KhaoSod.
