Tragedy as murder squad detective kills himself at a police station

A homicide detective tragically committed suicide at a police station.

The male officer is believed to have died in the early morning of Monday.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

The tragedy came just 11 months after Western Australia police announced the state’s homicide squad was under-resourced and overstretched due to a surge in murder cases.

In response to the problem, extra officers – from both the suburbs and the cities – were pulled from their usual areas of responsibility and sent to the homicide squad in Northbridge to assist.
