Toddler, three, rushed to hospital after falling from ‘top storey’ of block of flats – as four people are arrested on suspicion of child neglect

A toddler has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling from a block of flats in Southampton.

The three-year-old boy is believed to have fallen from the top floor of a building near Hoglands Park in the city.

Hampshire Police said today that officers have arrested four people on suspicion of child neglect: two women aged 26 and 45 and two men aged 29 and 45.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 6.35pm on Wednesday 4 September to reports of concerns for the welfare of a three-year-old child at an address on South Front in Southampton.

‘It was reported that the boy had fallen from a window. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

‘Police are on scene and will remain on scene at this time to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.’

The spokesperson said of the arrested persons: ‘At this moment all four are still in police cells.

‘Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or who has information that could assist our investigation, is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 44240380147.’
