A 29-year-old TikTok star known for her dating comedy series has died by suicide, the New York City coroner’s department has confirmed.
Eva Evans hanged herself in her apartment on April 20, authorities told the BBC. TMZ after earlier reports suggested she had left a suicide note.
Police found the creator of the ‘Club Rat’ series after they received a key from a friend who had seen her the day before.
According to police sources, she appeared to have hanged herself from the ceiling of her living room. Friends of the influencer said they were unaware that she was depressed or struggling with poor mental health.
Evans, who had more than 305,000 followers on TikTok, where she posted about her life in New York as an emerging filmmaker, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Yesterday my family received the news that our sweet, amazing, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, passed away,” her sister Lila Joy wrote in an Instagram post revealing the tragic news.
‘After 24 hours I am still in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how incredible and difficult this news will be to process.
“I wish I had Eva here now to refer to, because she has better words and knows how to say what I don’t know,” she continued.
“I’ll keep this brief so we can make plans for the next few days, but you’ll be hearing a lot more from me about how much Eva means to me and how different the world will be without her.”
Actress Julia Fox also paid an emotional tribute to Evans, who she called a “New York Icon.”
“That was the kind of person she was, always sticking up for me,” the Uncut Gems star said through tears.

Reality star Lo Bosworth also offered her condolences on Evans’ final Instagram post before her death.
“Rest in peace angel Eva, you were always kind to me when others weren’t. I will never forget that kindness,” The Hills alum wrote.

Inside the church, photo collages of Evans throughout her life were displayed, along with a display of flowers. Others wore shirts with her face on them and petted her dog, Slayer.

Evans starred alongside Noa Fisher and Marcela Avelina in the episodes, which lasted five to ten minutes.
“I am so grateful to the cast and crew who not only created some on-screen magic, but made filming an unforgettable and special experience in itself. I LOVE YOU ALL!!,” she wrote on Instagram when production wrapped in June 2023.
