The reason an Aussie influencer was forced to defend her decision to go to the gym with her three-year-old son – before deleting the controversial post

Steph Claire Smith has hit out at critics for taking her son to the gym.

The 30-year-old fitness influencer was questioned by her followers about her decision, who accused her of not spending time with her three-year-old son Harvey.

She shared a video of herself at the gym with her son, which led to criticism from internet trolls who criticized her for not going again without Harvey.

One follower commented: ‘If it was your day with him, why did you have to go to the gym? Wouldn’t you want to do fun things with him?’

In a now-deleted TikTok post and Instagram reel, Steph hit back at her critics, saying she “doesn’t need anyone else’s judgement.”

She responded angrily: ‘If that’s not the way you raise your child, fine, but it’s just unnecessary to make these kinds of judgments publicly.

“This comment was in my last video where I showed how I was doing a workout at the gym and took Harvey with me for the first time.”

Steph also emphasized that it is not a selfish act for parents to make time to exercise. She suggested taking a toddler to the gym to instill a healthy lifestyle.

“If you, like me, exercise often when Harvey is around, you just teach them that it’s important to develop a habit of taking care of your body,” she said.

Steph has a son, Harvey, with her husband Josh Miller and is often candid on social media about the realities of parenthood.

Steph regularly talks about the challenges she faces as a young mother and businesswoman.

In January, Steph opened up about the challenges of raising her toddler during the Christmas season.

She shared an emotional video on social media showing how her son Harvey turned the family vacation into a nightmare.

“Is your toddler going through a phase right now where they like one parent more than the other? Or are they nice to one parent and mean to the other? Because right now, Josh is getting the worst of it,” Steph said, her voice shaking with emotion.

‘Harvey won’t hear a word from him and it’s horrible to see. Plus it’s been tiring during the holidays.’

The social media star opened up about another parenting struggle last month, posting a screenshot of a wellness app page showing her sleeping for just three hours.

Elsewhere, Steph recently revealed that she hopes to expand her family and give Harvey a little brother or sister.

“We’re not one and done,” she said during a Q&A session with fans on her KICPOD podcast in July.

“We would love to have a second child. It’s about finding the best timing for our family at this time.

‘[But we are] super excited [to have another]…if we are lucky enough to have a brother or sister and expand our family…we’ll see.

Steph and Josh welcomed their son Harvey in May 2021.

They married in November 2019 in a festively themed ceremony along the Murray River, exactly one year after getting engaged at the same location.
