Mary Cosby of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City received a lot of backlash for a photo she posted of herself. She received some compliments, but also skepticism about the extent to which the photo was edited.
The 51-year-old reality star posted a screenshot of herself from the show’s upcoming fifth season on X/Twitter on Tuesday with the caption: “Confessional look for season 5 #RHOSLC.”
The Bravo personality, who is a regular cast member this season after being a friend in season four, can be seen wearing a sparkly red dress with matching earrings, with her light brown locks parted.
Some users said it appeared Cosby, who appears to be clashing with co-star Meredith Marks, 52, in the upcoming season, used an app or filter to alter her appearance in the image she posted.
“God works hard but @facetune works even harder,” one fan said, while another asked, “What filters did she use?? Because they don’t suit her look.”

One user said, “FaceTune is FACETUNING!” adding that they were “taking screenshots to compare to the real thing when it airs.”
Another user suggested that Cosby’s appearance – who has a company called Mari Marta’ Couture – was the result of cosmetic surgery: “Can you say Botox? Or fillers? Or surgery of some kind.”
A user said: ‘Auntie, I don’t recognize you! I see a little bit of Mia from [Real Housewives of Potomac] mixed with facetune i- you look amazing without it!’
Cosby, who describes himself as an entrepreneur, events specialist, philanthropist and spiritual leader on her Instagram pagealso received many compliments for the post.
Tamra Judge of the Real Housewives of Orange County commented, “You look beautiful, Mary!” while a tweet from Bravo’s official account read, “We have to admit: we love this look!”
Another user suggested that ‘we are currently in the Maryssance’, while another said: ‘Okay but the picture card never fails!!’
One user said Cosby looked “gorgeous,” while another said she was “happy” she was in a more prominent spot and could “finally look.” [the show] “Again;” while another said she had “the best confessional attitude.”

Cosby’s expanded role in the upcoming season is clearly adding some excitement to the Utah-set series, which has made headlines in the past for controversial run-ins with co-stars Whitney Rose, Heather Gay, Jennie Nguyen and Jen Shah.

Not all users were thrilled with Cosby’s return to the series. One asked, “Please get off our screen,” while another commented, “I don’t get why you keep coming back…other than the paycheck.”
In a preview for the upcoming season of the series last month, Cosby asked Marks to leave her house during a brunch themed Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
She called her in the clip “a sly, little, sarcastic girl.”
Cosby told Marks in another conversation that she was “not always the victim,” to which Marks responded that Cosby had used her for three years.
The fifth season of RHOSLC debuts on Bravo on September 18 at 9 p.m.
