The Latest: Biden, facing pressure over age, meets with labor groups; Trump revels in Biden turmoil

President Joe Biden, facing pressure from within his own party to suspend his re-election campaign, will soon meet with top labor leaders as he tries to argue that his record is more important than his age.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden, who is under pressure from within his own party to end his re-election campaign, will meet on Wednesday with the executive council of the AFL-CIO, America’s largest labor federation, as he tries to argue that his record is more important than his age. The 81-year-old Biden is also attending the NATO summit and wants to use the organization’s 75th anniversary event to highlight support for Ukraine in the fight against Russia and to reset his stumbling campaign.

Biden has been under immense pressure since his disastrous performance in the debate, putting pressure on the White House to until recently was characterized by discipline and loyalty.

Former President Donald Trump enjoyed the unrest around the Biden campaign and pressure from Biden’s party to resign. Trump is also expected to announce his Republican running mate soon.

Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi held back from saying President Joe Biden should continue his re-election campaign, saying “it’s up to the president to decide” whether to run.

“We all encourage him to make that decision because time is running out,” Pelosi said Wednesday morning on MSNBC.

When asked if she personally wants Biden to remain at the top of the list, Pelosi said, “I want him to do whatever he decides to do.”

Pelosi has been closely watched for some time to see what leading Democrats think about Biden’s candidacy.
