A 29 year old Thai woman survived a fall through the roof of a three-storey building in Pattaya after a five-day drug binge.
Sawang Borribun Dhammastan Foundation rescuers rushed to assist the woman, identified as Patitta Thanwatcharadon, after receiving a report of her fall at approximately 9.20pm on November 21. The incident occurred at a commercial building in Soi Bongkot 8, in the Bang Lamung district of Pattaya.
Upon arrival, rescuers found Patitta in a state of exhaustion and drowsiness with wounds and bruises across her body. She fell through the roof and ceiling of the building into the room of the building manager.
The 36 year old building manager, Rotsukhon Chanasongkham, told news agency 77 Kaoded that she was watching television in a nearby room when she heard a sound resembling something falling into the building.
Rotsukhon immediately checked all nearby rooms and discovered the woman. Patitta did not reside in the building, and Rotsukhon believed she was staying in a neighbouring building. She was unsure how the woman managed to walk from her building to the scene of the incident.
Rescuers provided first aid before transferring Patitta to the hospital. She was unable to provide much information to the rescue team, only revealing that she had been taking drugs for five consecutive days.
Police have not yet issued any legal punishment against Rotsukhon. They are awaiting Patitta’s recovery to question her further and are also waiting for the results of her official drug test.
In a similar incident in Pattaya on November 4, a naked British man, whose body was covered with excrement, fell from his hotel balcony through the ceiling of an Internet café. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and suffered only minor injuries.
It remains unclear why he ended up falling through the roof of the Internet café next to his hotel. Police and hotel staff reportedly conducted an investigation, but the results have not been made public.
