Rosie O’Donnell has issued a statement following news of her daughter Chelsea’s arrest on October 14 in Wisconsin.
The 62-year-old media personality – whose son Blake got married in August – took to Instagram on Saturday with a photo of Chelsea, 27, and her son Atlas, one.
O’Donnell’s eldest daughter was charged with child neglect after police found her 11-month-old son in a house full of meth pipes, feces and trash.
In the caption for her followers she said: ‘chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time – here is the family’s comment:
‘Unfortunately, this is not new to our family – Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for ten years – we all hope she will find a way out of this deadly disease.’

Chelsea has been charged with four felony counts of maintaining a drug trafficking operation, child neglect, possession of meth and possession of THC.
Police were called to her home in Marinette, Wisconsin, by Chelsea herself on September 10, according to court documents obtained by In touch revealed.
The 911 operator reported hearing an argument in the background and a woman telling someone to “go away.”
When police arrived, Chelsea reportedly tried to downplay the situation by insisting everything was fine, before later admitting that she and boyfriend Jacob Nelund had gotten into an argument.
“I tried to ask her more questions and you could tell Chelsea wasn’t being honest at all. This was a repeat of what happened a few weeks earlier when I was at her home for a similar incident,” a police officer wrote in a report.
Among the items in her home, officers found a meth pipe with residue in it.
A box of hypodermic needles was found in the child’s room.

Chelsea was adopted by Rosie and ex-wife Kelli Carpenter when she was just a baby, but moved out of the family home in 2016 at the age of 18; The family was pictured in 2010 with their children Vivienne, Chelsea, Blake and Parker
O’Donnell has had a tumultuous relationship with Chelsea over the years.
She and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter adopted Chelsea when she was a baby. She left home in 2016 at the age of 18 and moved to Wisconsin to be close to her birth mother.
“Chelsea is mentally ill,” Rosie told the Ny Breaking in 2017. ‘[She] has been in and out of hospitals most of her life. Born addicted to heroin. She has come a long way. She is very sick. She is incapable of truth or reason.”
She has four children: daughter Skylar Rose, five, Riley, three, Avery Lynn, two, and Atlas.
