The San Francisco 49ers announced that Ricky Pearsall suffered serious injuries after being shot during a robbery on Saturday.

Pearsall suffered a gunshot wound to the chest during the fight and is in serious but stable condition.

Fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel delivered a brief but reassuring message on X about an hour after news of Pearsall’s shooting broke.

“He’s fine. Thank God!!!!” Samuel posted alongside praying hands and crossed fingers emojis.

A video has surfaced of Pearsall after the shooting be loaded into an ambulance.

The first-year recipient was allegedly attacked for his Rolex watch. There are also unconfirmed claims that Pearsall was at a signature campaign at or around the time the shooting occurred.

The 23-year-old Arizona native is scheduled to start his first NFL game in a week against the New York Jets on September 9, but a shoulder injury has already negatively impacted his status for that game.

Pearsall was selected 31st overall in April’s NFL Draft after playing college games for Arizona State and Florida.

Mayor London Breed has since released a statement regarding the shooting.

“This afternoon there was an attempted robbery in Union Square involving San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was shot,” Breed said in her statement. “San Francisco Police immediately responded to the scene and the shooter was arrested.”

“My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time. We will provide further updates, including his condition, as I receive them.”

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins also released a statement after the shooting.

“Violent crime has no place in our city and I will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the San Francisco Police Department and law enforcement to make our city safer,” Brooke said.

“I want to thank the SFPD for the immediate arrest,” Brooke continued. “When the case is brought to my office, we will quickly review all of the evidence and make appropriate charging decisions. We cannot and will not tolerate senseless crime in San Francisco, and my office will ensure accountability.”
