REAL reason for Gwyneth Paltrow’s return to the big screen revealed – with lookalike daughter Apple playing a key role

Gwyneth Paltrow has quit acting due to a ‘deep passion’ to expand her multi-million dollar empire.

But it is her daughter’s own passion, particularly for Timothee Chalamet, that convinced her mother to return to the big screen for the first time in five years.

Paltrow, 51, will star opposite the 28-year-old Dune actor in Marty Supreme, an upcoming film inspired by the life of Marty Reisman and the world of professional ping-pong players.

Although she had no “great desire” to act, Paltrow was reportedly “convinced” to accept the offer after her daughter Apple, 20, found out that Chalamet would not only produce the film, but also star in it.

“Gwyneth signed on to star alongside Timothee in Marty Supreme thanks to her daughter, who has had her eye on the Dune star for years,” an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com.

Although she had no “great desire” to act, Paltrow, 51, was reportedly “convinced” to say yes to the offer after her daughter Apple, 20, found out about Chalamet’s involvement

‘When Gwyneth told Apple that Timothee was not only a producer, but also the lead actor, she begged her mother to accept.

“After reading it and enjoying it, she was convinced by Apple, because Apple wants to be on set as much as possible, even though she has no real desire to act at the moment.”

Plot details are still under wraps, but the film, produced by A24, will be a “fictionalized original film, rather than a biopic,” according to Deadline, with Chalamet’s character based on Reisman, one of the most successful American table tennis players of all time.

The New York native known as ‘The Needle’ won more than 22 major table tennis titles between 1946 and 2002 after picking up the sport as a child on the Lower East Side and working hard to earn a living in his early years.

He and his doubles partner Douglas Cartland later opened for the Harlem Globetrotters, performing a comedy number involving table tennis and frying pans.

His autobiography – The Money Player, The Confessions of America’s Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler – was published in 1974.

Reisman, who once described his career as “a funny way to spend your life,” died in 2012 at the age of 82.

Paltrow, who shares Apple and son Moses, 18, with ex-husband Chris Martin, will star opposite Chalamet in the upcoming film directed by Josh Safdie. Her role has not been specified.

Her last major appearance on the silver screen was in Marvel’s 2019 superhero adventure Avengers: Endgame, in which she reprised the role of Pepper Potts, Iron Man’s love interest.

The actress, who is married to producer Brad Falchuk, scaled back her “incredible acting career” to focus on goop, the wellness brand she launched in 2008 and which has grown into a company with an estimated $250 million in revenue.

Last year she said she would “consider” returning to the screen.

“I’m happy with what I’m doing at Goop now, but I never say never,” she said during a panel at the Red Sea International Film Festival.

“I don’t know what the future holds. If I’m not busy running Goop, and one of my best friends says, please come and do that with us, then I might consider it.”
