Pattaya City joined forces with the Soi Dog Foundation to address the stray dog issue in Koh Larn by implementing a sterilisation programme. This collaborative effort, part of the Community Dogs Project, seeks to control the stray population and prevent the spread of rabies, ultimately reducing health risks associated with stray dogs in both Koh Larn and Pattaya City.

The initiative, which kicked off on November 18, involves a spaying and neutering campaign that will continue until December 1. The programme offers free services for both owned and stray dogs. After the procedure, the dogs are released back into their communities. The target is to sterilise 400 dogs during the campaign.

Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, Manoch Nongyai, visited the operation site to provide support to the Soi Dog Foundation team and other participants involved in this important community effort.

The Deputy Mayor expressed his appreciation.

“This initiative is crucial in managing the stray dog population and preventing rabies, which poses a significant health risk to our residents.”

This campaign is a testament to the commitment of Pattaya City and the Soi Dog Foundation to ensuring a safer environment for both humans and animals.

The programme reflects a proactive approach to animal welfare and public health, aiming to mitigate potential dangers posed by the growing stray dog population. The collaborative effort is expected to make a significant impact on the community’s well-being.

Residents and visitors on Koh Larn are encouraged to support and participate in this initiative by bringing in dogs for sterilisation, thereby contributing to the overall success of the project, reported Pattaya News.
