Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon set to change his jersey number for touching reason

  • Aaron Gordon has worn number 50 since he was traded to Denver in 2021
  • But he’ll have a different jersey number for the Nuggets this season

Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon changes his jersey number in honor of his late brother.

Gordon’s brother Drew, who was also a professional basketball player, died in May at age 33 after a car accident.

And the 2023 NBA champion has decided to drop from No. 50 to No. 32 in honor of his late big brother, according to NBA numerologist Etienne Catalan.

Gordon wore number 32 while playing for New Mexico in college, and also wore the number while playing overseas in Italy and Russia.

He made nine appearances for the Sixers in the 2014–15 season and also played in the G-League for Philadelphia and the Long Island Nets.

In early June, Gordon posted a tribute to Drew on his Instagramwriting: ‘Big brother lives through me.’

He also shared a photo of a new tattoo he got, featuring his brother’s initials on a gorilla.

Drew died on May 30 in Portland, Oregon after hitting a GMC Sierra pickup truck with his three-wheeled moped.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s OfficePreliminary investigation revealed that Drew’s vehicle had “crossed the center line” off the road before colliding with the GMC.

The driver and passenger of the truck were taken to hospital with injuries, but their lives are not in danger.

According to police, Drew was probably not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the accident occurred.

Gordon’s Nuggets open their NBA season on October 24 against the Thunder.
