Newcastle have made an improved offer for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, Mail Sport understands.
The new package, which is closer to Palace’s minimum value of £65m, is the fourth package for the England international from the Magpies.
The third bid, consisting of £55m plus a further £5m in add-ons, was rejected by Palace.
The value of Newcastle’s new offer is unconfirmed – but it is, remarkably, closer to the £65m mark. Sources indicate that the package has not been rejected out of hand and is being considered.
While it remains to be seen whether Palace will accept the offer, it appears a breakthrough is close.

Guehi’s departure would be Palace’s most expensive move, following Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s £50million move to Manchester United in 2019.
