Moment heroic New Hampshire teen jumps onto runaway boat in lake

A breathtaking video has captured the moment a heroic New Hampshire teenager jumped into a spinning boat that was spinning on a popular lake and lost control.

Brady Procon, 17, sprang into action when a sailing lesson on Lake Winnipesaukee went dramatically wrong, with an instructor falling overboard and the motorboat spinning in circles.

“I was sitting on the porch and my dad was yelling that there was a boat out of control in the wake,” Procon said WUR.

The alert teen and his father, Jeremy, revealed the events that led to his son’s daring rescue.

The boat, owned by a local sailing club, was being piloted by an instructor teaching children how to sail, when he reached for a tennis ball, which he was using to learn maneuvers.

But as he bent down to grab it, one of the children’s boats capsized, the mast hitting the instructor’s throttle, sending him into the water and the boat spiraling.

While children were nearby, neighbor Justin King jumped on his jet ski and told Brady to jump in after him.

After safely leading the children from the drifting boat, King and Brady headed toward the runaway boat.

The brave teenager then jumped onto the out of control boat and eventually brought it to a stop.

“I jumped off my jet ski, jumped on his jet ski and then he maneuvered his jet ski towards the boat so I could jump in,” Procon said. Western Mass News.

“I don’t know. I didn’t really think about it, it just came to me,” Procon said.

“I only now realize what I did, I’m a little scared, but it was fun and I would do it again,” said Procon.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

“They called me a hero and all that, but I wouldn’t say I’m a hero. I think anyone would have if they had the chance.”

Procon is now thinking about his next step: he wants to enlist in the Navy this fall.

“I think to serve in any branch of the military, you have to be brave. I wouldn’t even consider what I did brave, but more of a sense of, don’t think, just do it.”
