Meghan wishes Prince Harry could ‘let go’ of legal security battle and wants the duke to be ‘free’, sources say

Meghan Markle hopes Prince Harry can “drop” the legal battle over their family’s safety because she wants the Duke to be “free”, sources said.

Harry is still appealing a UK Supreme Court ruling on his safety after losing several rounds of legal action against the Home Office.

A friend close to Harry said the Duke’s calls to his father about the matter have gone “unanswered,” according to a report from People magazine.

Meghan hopes the Duke can “put these lawsuits behind her” and “live in the moment,” sources told the US magazine.

The report quotes a former employee of the Sussexes’ Archewell Foundation as saying: “[Meghan] wants him to be freed from all this, but she also knows that because of everything he’s been through and his love for [her and their children]he can’t do that.

“She wants him to live in a world where he’s not burdened by this.”

Harry previously told ITV in an interview that he “is not taking his wife back to this country” due to “genuine concerns” about security.

Earlier this year, a High Court judge ruled that Harry had “completely lost” his appeal against a Home Office decision about his safety in the UK.

He had hoped for a judicial inquiry into the decision by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) to strip his right to automatic police protection after he decided to leave the working royal family.

Harry will still be granted protection if he returns to Britain under certain circumstances, but he will have to give 28 days’ notice of his plans.

Harry reportedly believes his father should intervene in the security issue so that his youngest son and family are safe in the UK.

Communication between Harry and Charles has gone from frustration to “complete silence,” sources told People Magazine.

“He’s not asking his father for a nicer house or nicer cars. He’s asking because of the reality of the situation. He’s taking a risk,” the source said.

The legal battle has fuelled fears that Charles will never be reunited with his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as Harry refuses to bring his family to the UK.

Royal experts told The Mail on Sunday that the king will become “increasingly distant” from the children, in what is an “extremely sad situation”.

King Charles last saw Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, in June 2022, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
