Matt Shirvington has opened up about his experiences co-hosting Sunrise, a year after stepping into the role.

The 44-year-old took over as co-anchor alongside Natalie Barr on June 13, and his first day saw huge ratings from viewers.

Reflecting on his journey, Shirvington shared his gratitude for the opportunity.

‘It was just amazing… there hasn’t been a day where I’ve driven to work in the middle of the night with no one else around, even in the winter when it’s raining, where I’ve thought, ‘Should I do this? do it again?” he said The Sunday Telegraph.

“When you’re on the air almost four hours a day, five days a week – and it’s that busy – it’s the fastest show,” he explained.

“Being able to replace someone and continue the success of the show at the same time is huge and really encouraging,” he added.
