Mason Greenwood reportedly wants to sit down with Thomas Tuchel and the Football Association to discuss a route back to the England national team.
The 23-year-old forward has scored five goals in seven appearances since joining Marseille this summer and earned one England cap in 2020.
He was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behavior in October 2022, but the charges and the case were dropped in February 2023 when key witnesses withdrew.
Given that Manchester United let him go and that there was huge opposition to his joining Marseille, it would undoubtedly be divisive to include him back in the national squad.
But he is determined to be part of Tuchel’s regime to reach the 2026 World Cup and will transfer his allegiance to Jamaica if he is ruled out, according to The Sun.
Mason Greenwood reportedly wants to talk to Thomas Tuchel about playing for England
He won a cap in 2020 and is committed to playing for England or Jamaica in the 2026 World Cup
Greenwood saw charges of attempted rape and assault against him dropped last year
The Bradford-born forward is eligible to play for the Caribbean country through his paternal grandparents.
A source told The Sun: ‘Mason knows his chances of playing for England again are very slim. But he now wants to ask the FA and Tuchel what they think.
‘He is determined to play at the highest level and that means the World Cup.
“So if England don’t want him, he will move to Jamaica and try to reach the 2026 World Cup that way.”
Gareth Southgate has never ruled out Greenwood returning in the future, but admitted during his trial that it was not a ‘consideration’ to include him.
His only cap came against Iceland in September 2020, but he was expelled from the camp along with Phil Foden after footage emerged of the pair ferrying women back to the team hotel despite Covid-19 restrictions.
He can take hope from the way Lee Carsley’s interim management showed a willingness to consider a range of stars for the national team, including initial call-ups for Angel Gomes, Noni Madueke, Morgan Gibbs-White and Tino Livramento.
Tuchel has agreed an 18-month deal to hopefully take England to the 2026 World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America.

Tuchel has been appointed on an 18-month, £6m-a-year contract to manage England
The German earns £6million a year and comes with high expectations, although his appointment has had its own backlash.
Tuchel has an impressive CV, having won league titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, as well as the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup with Chelsea.
The FA interviewed ten candidates for the role but opted to make him their third ever non-British manager.
