Manuel Ugarte is travelling to England TODAY to undergo medical at Manchester United after Red Devils agree an initial £42m deal with PSG for midfielder – as Erik ten Hag finally lands his target

Manuel Ugarte is due in England today for a medical ahead of his transfer from Paris St Germain to Manchester United.

The clubs agreed a fee last night after United’s Jason Wilcox travelled to Paris to finalise negotiations. Wilcox was accompanied in Paris by director of player negotiations Matt Hargreaves.

The deal is worth £42million, plus a further £8.4million in add-ons for the Uruguay international.

United finally made their move when Scott McTominay completed a £26million move to Napoli and Hannibal Meibri moved to Burnley in a deal worth £9.5million.

McTominay is expected to travel to Italy today to finalise his departure from United, while Mejbri underwent part of his medical last night.

Ugarte did not play in PSG’s first two games of the new Ligue 1 season, despite having made it clear he wants to join United.

The midfielder would become Erik ten Hag’s fifth signing in the summer transfer period.

The Dutchman has brought in Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui so far.

Ugarte made 37 appearances for the French heavyweights last season, helping the club win Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

He previously played 85 times for Sporting in two years. He started his Portuguese club career with Famalicao.

Ugarte also played 22 international matches for Uruguay at senior level.

The midfielder joins the club as McTominay is set to leave after spending his entire club career at Old Trafford. He first came through United’s youth system at the age of five.

McTominay’s last appearance for United came on Saturday when they lost 2-1 at Brighton.
