Manchester United have secured a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating League One club Barnsley comfortably at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Marcus Rashford put United ahead with brilliant footwork and a fine finish to give his team the perfect start at home.

Ten minutes before half-time, United doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Barnsley goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina brought down Antony in the penalty area.

Antony, who was given his first starting spot of the season by Ten Hag, took the initiative to convert the penalty and shot the ball past Slonina with a hesitant run-up.

Then Garnacho scored the third in one of the last kicks of the first half, playing a pass from Rashford well and the two working together again to cap off a cracking first 45 minutes.

Garnacho scored twice just four minutes into the second half. The Argentine broke through but eventually calmed down and passed Slonina into the net.

Nine minutes later, Garnacho again provided the assist for Rashford, with the England international scoring his 16th League Cup goal of his career to make it 5-0 before the hour.

Christian Eriksen then made it six goals that night with a solid finish, thanks in part to an assist from substitute Bruno Fernandes in the second half.

Fernandes and Eriksen teamed up again to complete one of the greatest League Cup victories ever, with the Dane scoring his second goal of the night to join Rashford and Garnacho in scoring twice at Old Trafford.
