They started dating in 2013 after meeting through friend Roisin Conaty and went on to work together on a number of shows, including Meet The Richardsons.

But in a joint statement in April, the couple said: ‘After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.”

Jon handed over £1.625 million to fellow comedian Lucy, 41, as they called time on their nine-year marriage.

Meet the Richardsons was a fly-on-the-wall mockumentary about Dave and Elsie and Lucy’s mother Gill, who appeared in it with the couple.

But now Lucy has told The times: ‘I don’t regret anything, but in this next phase I’m keeping my personal life very personal.

‘I sometimes feel guilty for talking about my daughter and my marriage, and my mother and my father.

“I think part of me felt grateful, grateful to get the work, grateful to be interviewed, and feeling like I had to sacrifice everything and share.”

On Saturday, Lucy broke her silence about the split for the first time OK! Magazine: ‘People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I don’t, and not because there is any animosity.

“We both agreed that while it might be weird if other people didn’t hear about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything that had to do with the marriage or each other.”

She added a recent new approach to life now that she’s in her 40s: “I don’t really feel any different, just a little angrier and unwilling to accept anything from anyone.”

It comes after Lucy said she sometimes worries she ‘made a mistake’ by marrying Jon, as she slammed his stubbornness in an unearthed clip.

A resurfaced video shows Lucy sharing her concerns about her marriage on Jon’s show Ultimate Worrier, where he brings guests along to help analyze his many concerns.

When asked if Lucy worried about her ex-husband, she replied: “I have a lot. Sometimes I’m afraid I’ve made a mistake.’

Lucy went on to describe how Jon can’t admit he’s wrong or made a mistake, something she said can be difficult for a marriage.

“One thing I think is very difficult in a marriage is when the other person can’t admit when they’re wrong,” she continued. “I can’t say sorry, I made a mistake.”

The ex-couple were joined on the episode by Jonathan Ross, who said: ‘It’s crucial that there’s no way a relationship can survive that.’

“You can’t judge me on that unless I make a mistake,” Jon replied, as the audience started laughing. “It’s not fair.”

To prove her point, Lucy added, “And he honestly thinks I’m the flawed one and you never make a mistake. I have an example and it’s actually not a pleasant story to tell you.’

Lucy started telling a story about their honeymoon, where they rented a car and drove across America, while Jon looked at the map and decided to book a hotel in Santa Cruz.

“Then I looked up Santa Cruz and it has the highest murder rate in all of America,” she said. “Worse than LA, like the most dangerous place to be. I mentioned this to Jon and he said, well, I’ve booked it now.

‘So we went into a falafel bar and sat in the window, looking at the sea and I thought, this is getting a bit later, things are turning a bit, and then you wouldn’t have any of it anymore. .

“Anyway, a gang showed up and one of them got stabbed in the chest, and I looked at Jon, he remained emotionless. Like he was watching two pigeons having an argument and I was in shock.”

Lucy added: ‘I said, “Oh, I can’t eat this,” so Jon ate my falafel too and I said, “It’s not bothering you?”

“All because he wouldn’t admit we were in a dangerous place.”

In another old clip recently shared, Lucy jokingly said she didn’t think her marriage to Jon would last a lifetime, two years before they announced their divorce.

In an unearthed clip from 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown in 2022, Lucy shared her candid take on their marriage, prompting Jon, also 41, to ask ‘are you splitting up?’

In the show’s footage, host Jimmy Carr asked Lucy: “Why did you decide to settle?”

To which the comedian replied: ‘I can’t see this for the life of me, isn’t there a song Just Passing Through? A season, a reason or a lifetime.

‘In your life you meet old souls, new souls, holes. Before Jon, I had never eaten an avocado. We had a beautiful life together. We have had a daughter.

“Who knows what will happen in the future.”

A stunned Jon asked, “Are you guys breaking up now?” before putting his head in his hands.

Lucy replied, “We have a lovely daughter, so it was worth it.”
