Liam Smith will no longer fight Josh Kelly on the undercard of Daniel Dubois vs Anthony Joshua on September 21.

A source confirmed that Boxing scene that a virus has forced the Liverpool native to cancel his middleweight bout.

The 12-round bout would be Smith’s first since being knocked out by Chris Eubank Jr. 12 months ago.

Replacements for Kelly, who is expected to remain on the card, are now being considered.

It’s not the first time Smith has struggled with his body. Before the match against Eubank Jr, he suffered a back injury and had to cut weight. According to him, it cost him ‘his death’.

Smith will no doubt be disappointed to miss out on the chance to fight at Wembley Stadium next weekend.

Joshua will challenge Dubois for his IBF heavyweight title in the main event. Dubois has been promoted from IBF interim titleholder to IBF champion.

There are three other titles on the line in London as Englishman Josh Warrington takes on Anthony Cacace for the IBF super featherweight title.
