Liam Gallagher’s son Gene, 23, set to support Oasis on their sell out tour after playing major role in reuniting his father with brother Noel

He helped bridge the decades-long gap between his uncle and his father.

And it seems it’s paid off for Liam Gallagher’s youngest son Gene, who has revealed he will be supporting Oasis on their sold-out reunion tour.

Gene, 23, has told friends that the indie rock group he leads, Villanelle, will be one of 10 opening acts when his father, 51, and uncle Noel, 57, take to the stage next September.

An insider said: ‘Gene is very supportive of Oasis. He’s told a few people and he’s really excited. He’s excited to be playing with his dad and knows it’s going to be huge for his music career.’

Villanelle has not yet signed a contract, but will release her first single on an independent label in November.

But Gene, from Liam’s six-year marriage to All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, has previously said: “I want to be the biggest band in the world.”

Gene sings and plays lead guitar for his band. He was the opening act for the Wonderwall singer on his Definitely, Maybe solo tour this summer.

But as always, Liam auditioned his son for the gig and told him, “Come on, let’s see what you’re worth, because if you’re bad, you’re not playing.”

Eventually, the Everything’s Electric singer relented, writing on his social media: “They’re good. I’m gonna put them on first for the Definitely, Maybe tour.”

Gene is no stranger to life on the road, with his band touring small venues across the UK over the past year.

Oasis are scheduled to embark on a massive 17-concert tour of the UK, with dates in Dublin, Liverpool, Manchester and London, with more international dates to be announced soon.

According to The Mail, Gene and his niece Anaïs, 24 and Noel’s daughter, played a key role in reuniting the feuding brothers for the tour, 15 years after they last performed together.

Liam’s time on tour with his youngest son this year has brought them closer together and a source said: ‘Liam has seen the passion the younger generation have for Oasis tracks, some of whom weren’t even born when the band split.

‘Noel and Liam only recently realised that their own children had never actually seen them together. They didn’t want to wait until it was too late to show them why they are the biggest band in Britain.’

Meanwhile, Gene’s older half-brother, Lennon 24, from Liam’s marriage to actress Patsy Kensit, and his band, Automotion, have not been called up to support their father.

Speaking about his sons’ bands in 2019, the Live Forever singer said, “They’re both watching each other… from across the room. Gene’s got a little band and Lennon’s got a little band, they’re figuring it out.

‘Lennon’s music is a bit more spread out, like early Verve, pretty chill. Whereas Gene is more in-your-face, Arctic Monkeys style. Go for it, I say.’

Representatives for Oasis declined to comment.
