Many offices and businesses will close their doors on Thursday for Independence Day.
During this holiday, families and friends gather for barbecues, picnics and parties.
But if you need some last-minute food and drink, make sure you’re not surprised by major store closures.

Major retailers
Costco, Walmart and Target have all confirmed that their stores will be open as normal this holiday season
Costco has confirmed that all of its stores will be closed on the federal holiday.
However, competing wholesalers such as Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale Club remain open.
Walmart is open from 6am to 11pm throughout the holiday.
Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Kroger and Publix and most other national chains remain open.
Other branches, such as Aldi and Whole Foods, have adjusted opening hours, so check their website to see when your local branch is open.
Trader Joe’s is open, but all stores close at 5pm local time.
Restaurant chains
Those who prefer to be taken care of during the holiday are in luck: all major restaurant chains are open as usual.
Fast food chains such as McDonald’s, KFC, Applebee’s, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Burger King and Chick-fil-A have their normal business hours, but these may vary by location.
Starbucks and Dunkin’ operate normal business hours, which may vary by location.
Restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Buffalo Wild Wings, Waffle House, IHOP and Applebee’s are also open.
Banks
Memorial Day is a bank and stock market holiday. This means that all major banks close their local branches.

While national parks are free to enter on some holidays, the entrance fee remains the same on Independence Day.
Libraries
Public libraries and non-essential government services, such as city offices and the Department of Motor Vehicles, are also closed on the holiday.
