Joe Burrows’ surprising new haircut has a very simple explanation.
The Bengals quarterback, who entered training camp in Cincinnati this week with a blonde bob haircut, gave a straight answer when asked why he chopped off his iconic long locks.
“I was bored,” the 27-year-old told reporters after training on Wednesday.
Burrow then explained that he had a bet with his teammate, BJ Hill.
“BJ said if I shaved it off and bleached it, he would do it too,” the former LSU superstar said.

“Now everyone has to hold him accountable because he has to do it next week,” he continued.
“We need the fans and the media to hold him accountable if he doesn’t do it. So I’m counting on you.”
The Bengals’ social media team was the first to reference rapper Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, when he debuted his new look.
The team posted a photo of Burrow with the caption, “Guess who’s back,” a reference to the iconic chorus from the 2002 hit “Without Me.”
The references to Eminem kept coming, with users repeatedly commenting that he looked like “Slim Shady.”
In addition to the Detroit native, Burrows’ tough looks have also been compared to WWE superstar Cody Rhodes.

“You guys signed Cody Rhodes during the offseason?” one fan joked in response to the Bengals’ post.
Meanwhile, some fans claimed the new look symbolized Burrow’s breakthrough return from injury and even a Super Bowl title for Cincinnati.
“MVP season is coming,” one user wrote.
“Super Bowl me NUWWWW,” added another.
After suffering a torn ligament in his right wrist, Burrow missed seven games at the end of last season. The Bengals finished the season with a 9-8 mark.
Now that Burrow is healthy and surrounded by new reinforcements, the Heisman Trophy winner believes they can prevail over their rival and reigning Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs.
