Jimmy Fallon lifts the lid on beating Tiger Woods at Wii golf… and what he said to make the sports legend ‘mad’

Jimmy Fallon recalls beating Tiger Woods ‘in a game of golf’ and how the PGA Tour legend didn’t take the loss lightly.

While Woods’ legendary career will be remembered for his 15 major tournament victories, he may have a thorn in his side in the form of a loss to The Tonight Show host, even though it’s not to his credit.

Fallon spoke in an interview with NBC Golf on Wednesday about the satisfaction he felt beating Woods at Wii Golf.

“I beat Tiger Woods in a round of golf,” Fallon said. “It was Nintendo Wii Golf, but it still counts, the word ‘golf’ is in the same sentence. He got mad at me, I remember this.

‘Athletes take it very seriously, every sport, every competition. I remember playing against Tiger Woods and beating him at his own game – Tiger Woods [PGA Tour]Wii Golf.

“I remember saying, ‘Tiger, if you hold the controller down and shake it, you’ll get a backspin.’”

“And he said, ‘Don’t tell me how to play my game,’” Fallon added, glaring into the camera.

Fallon appeared on the program to promote his 4-hole match against DJ Khaled, which aired on NBC on Friday the 13th – titled ‘Cardigan Classic’.

Fallon has defeated the golf legend and is confident he will emerge victorious when he and the music icon take to the course at Lake Tahoe.

“It’s a very intense golf match. Possibly the most intense track and field match ever televised,” Fallon joked on his show. “Four holes, two guys, one winner. And that winner gets to take home the official red cardigan of the championship.”

“And guess what, Khaled. They’re so sure I’m going to win, I hear they only made the jersey in my size. That’s right, youth big.”
