Jermaine Jenas’ wife Ellie breaks her social media silence as she returns to Instagram for the first time since shamed pundit was sacked by the BBC for sending ‘inappropriate’ texts to other women

The wife of disgraced football analyst Jermaine Jenas has returned to social media for the first time since his BBC contract was terminated for sending inappropriate text messages to other women.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Jenas, 41, is battling to save his 12-year marriage after admitting he sent explicit text messages to two female employees at the BBC, where he worked on Match Of The Day and The One Show.

He has since been accused of sending photos of his manhood to a third, unnamed woman while he was working abroad during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

On Tuesday evening, the ex-footballer’s wife, Ellie, with whom he raises four young children, announced on Instagram that she is launching a new company: Preppy Skin, a skincare brand aimed exclusively at children under the age of 16.

She wrote: ‘I’m so excited to finally reveal something very special that I’ve been working on for the past 3 years.

“We can’t wait to finally launch this brand and reveal it next month!”

Jenas was sacked as presenter of Match Of The Day and The One Show after admitting sending ‘inappropriate text messages’ to two BBC colleagues.

Now a source close to Jenas told The Sun: ‘Jermaine strongly denies these texts were unsolicited. They were between two consenting adults.’

They also say he has “worked hard in recent weeks to repair his marriage and help his children get back into school,” adding that “he is terrified of the pain he has caused.”

According to claims made by the BBC, other female staff members also came forward after a woman complained about receiving unsolicited messages.

He later publicly apologized to the two women he texted, telling a newspaper, “I’m ashamed. I feel like I let everyone down.”

But now another woman claims she was the victim of similar inappropriate behaviour two years earlier, when the former footballer worked with the BBC commentary team during the World Cup in Qatar.

When the former footballer was sacked from the BBC last month, he told his former female colleagues he was “sincerely sorry” for sending inappropriate messages, apologising after being told they could not contact the two women due to “legal proceedings”.

But he insisted they were “two consenting adults” and that his behavior was not illegal.

The sacked Match of the Day host admitted: ‘I’m ashamed. I feel like I’ve let everyone down – friends, family, colleagues.’

Jenas said he hasn’t been sleeping well since losing his job and that his wife Ellie hasn’t told him whether their marriage will last.

He said, ‘I mean, the anxiety builds up in your body about these kinds of things. I haven’t had any sleeping pills. I just haven’t slept.

‘You just lie there, your thoughts racing until you pass out. Part of me would rather go outside and run until I collapse.’

The former Spurs footballer also hit out at the BBC for the broadcaster’s handling of his sacking, saying: “The handling of the situation wasn’t great. It was quick — and hell.

“I don’t think there was a plan for when they would announce that they had fired me.

“I think different departments were told different things. I find it shocking.”
