Jennifer Lopez breaks her silence with first social media post since shock divorce filing – months after split from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez appears to have broken her silence for the first time since filing for divorce from estranged husband Ben Affleck on Tuesday.

The 55-year-old singer posted a message on her Instagram Stories on Friday, but fans who wanted to know more about her mental state or her split from the 52-year-old actor were likely disappointed.

Instead of sharing new content, JLo reposted a selfie she had taken earlier that had been shared by a fan account.

The specific post was a bit of a mystery, as it appeared to be from a December 2020 photoshoot, according to People.

Jennifer looked as glamorous as ever in the throwback photo, with thick, caramel-colored curls cascading over her shoulders and chest.

Jennifer Lopez appears to have broken her silence on Friday by reposting a selfie taken by a fan account. It was her first social media post since filing for divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday on the second anniversary of their second wedding ceremony.

She wore a soft, soft pink fleece jacket for the colder weather. A Christmas tree could be seen in the back corner of the photo, confirming that the photo was taken around the holidays.

Aside from the post, which Jennifer shared without comment or context, she has remained silent since filing for divorce.

It is notable that Jennifer filed the documents herself and did not list an attorney to represent her. She may have listed an attorney in the future.

She cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for filing for divorce.

Although she was the one who filed the report, and Ben apparently chose not to, We weekly reported on Friday that he was reportedly well aware of her plans.

According to an insider, the estranged couple “had already agreed to these terms before she filed the case.”

They said the two had gone through “all the details” of the report beforehand and described it as a “planned” event, rather than a report intended to surprise Ben.

“JLo ultimately made the decision because they had an agreement that she would press charges and she was the one who ultimately made the decision,” the source added.

The reporting is largely in line with the couple’s decision to feign a healthy marriage for months, occasionally going out together in public despite already being separated behind the scenes.

The source noted that both parties “came with significant assets of their own” and that they reportedly have no intention of fighting over their wealth. Their sprawling Beverly Hills mansion is the only significant shared asset that needs to be sold.

Jennifer therefore did not request alimony from her ex and asked the court to deny it for Ben.

Divorce attorney Chris Melcher told Us Weekly that while there was no mention of a prenuptial agreement in Jennifer’s divorce filing, that doesn’t mean the two didn’t have one.

Jennifer did not seek spousal support and asked the court to deny it to Ben as well. She cited irreconcilable differences and said they split on April 26; seen with JLo in LA in December

“There’s no requirement to state whether or not you have a prenuptial agreement,” said Melcher, who has no ties to Lopez or Affleck’s legal affairs. “I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that she doesn’t have one just because it’s not mentioned.”

He added that the divorce forms in California, where JLo filed for divorce, don’t even have a box to indicate that a prenup has been drawn up.

She gave April 26 as the date of their separation.

Jennifer and Ben married on July 16, 2022 in an intimate ceremony, but later married on August 20, 2022, in front of family and friends at Ben’s South Carolina estate. Exactly two years before Ben filed for divorce.
