After Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday, Dailymail.com investigated the financial fallout from the couple’s split. Their combined net worth is estimated at $640 million.
Tuesday’s filing follows months of speculation about the relationship between the 55-year-old singer/actress and the 52-year-old actor/director, whose relationship troubles have dominated Hollywood news in recent months.
Lopez filed divorce papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, ending her marriage to Affleck without an attorney. TMZ reported that sources say there is “no prenuptial agreement” between the two and that Lopez makes no mention of it in legal documents.
Lopez, who listed the divorce date in court documents as April 26, 2024, filed the documents on the second anniversary of their marriage on August 20, 2022, at Affleck’s estate outside Savannah, Georgia.
The lack of a prenuptial agreement indicates that any income the stars earned during their two years together would be classified as “joint property,” TMZ reported.

One major asset the estranged couple must agree on is a $60.85 million Beverly Hills, California, home they bought last year. The former couple listed the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom home for $65 million in June, then relisted it after recent renovations for $68 million.
Both entertainers have been working steadily in the two years they’ve been married: Lopez’s projects include the 2022 film Shotgun Wedding, 2023’s The Mother, 2024’s This Is Me… Now and 2024’s Atlas, while Affleck’s projects in that time period include the 2023 films Air and Hypnotic, and he’s wrapped filming on The Accountant 2.
According to the newspaper, Lopez indicated in court documents that she was waiving spousal support and asked the court not to pay Affleck any support either.
According to the outlet, Lopez and Affleck have been trying to reach a settlement for months. According to insiders, the negotiations sometimes became ‘increasingly heated’, with the two not talking directly to each other.

The insider noted that Lopez’s push for financial compensation was a direct response to Affleck’s behavior following the end of the relationship.
“If he had stayed in the marriage like a good guy, she wouldn’t have had a problem with it,” the source said. “But he left her and in the end, Jennifer always gets her revenge and now she’s ready to play hardball.”
The source noted to the outlet that “one of the little-known secrets is that Jennifer paid for a large portion of their wedding expenses and now she feels like he owes her something,” listing the expenses she’s made during the relationship.
The source said: ‘Ben has taken so much money from her, or so she claims… She adds up all the bills from her private jets that she puts on her account, the hotels, meals, clothes, coffee, petrol.
“The high cost of living was paid for by her. She also paid the lion’s share for that $60 million mansion they bought.”

Lopez is the mother of twins Emme and Maximilian, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, 55. Affleck is the father of children Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, with her ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52.
Affleck’s behavior was cited as a reason for the rift between the stars, who had been in a relationship two decades earlier.

The source added: “He chain-smokes and swears and seems irritated a lot. Great director and actor, but he’s not much to laugh at, you know? He’s a great dad though.”
Affleck and Lopez tied the knot on July 16, 2022, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas.
“It ended up being the best possible wedding we could have imagined,” Lopez said in her On the JLo newsletter on July 17, 2022. “A wedding we dreamed of for a long time and finally made a reality (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible, and each other).”
The couple re-tied at Affleck’s estate outside Savannah, Georgia, on Aug. 20, 2022, exactly two years before Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday.
