A woman has complained after noticing underwear sold in Australia was ‘shrinking’ and sizing inconsistently.

The bargain hunter expressed her frustration on Reddit, saying she struggled to understand why her normal underwear size no longer fit, even though she was still the same weight.

The petite woman, who is normally an Australian size 6-8, claimed clothes in her size, made by an Aussie budget brand, are now too big to wear, while the underwear she used to buy in size 10 are now too is small.

‘Is it me?’ she wrote, explaining that some brands now require her to wear a size 12.

Others quickly confirmed she wasn’t alone.

One woman said the sizes are always different on Australian underwear

One woman responded, saying Australian underwear always comes with sizing biases, and asked someone to “just make sense.”

Another customer said she had experienced the same frustrating problem when shopping between Australian brands, as well as between different underwear designs in Australia.

“Yeah, I’m actually really annoyed because…I recently bought a pair of 12s and they feel a little tighter than I’d like. Too bad, because I bought a few too. And some of them are OK, like a little bikini bottom, but the high-waisted ribbed bottoms seem quite small for a size 12,” she said.

Many got into trouble because of the blanket no-return policy on underwear.

Another angry customer claimed they had wasted money after buying a size 14 from a brand, which turned out to be so small she had to check it was a women’s size 14 and not a child’s size 14.

After deciding to buy a size 14 from another Australian retailer in the hope of a better fit, the new underwear turned out to be too big.
