Hugh Jackman has celebrated his 56th birthday in a new social media post.
The Deadpool & Wolverine star took to Instagram on Monday to thank family and friends for their “love” after a turbulent year.
‘Thank you all for the incredible birthday love! I am grateful. #thisis56,” he wrote alongside photos of him blowing out one candle on a birthday cake.
The post comes amid reports that family and friends are ‘concerned’ about Hugh following his split from wife Deborra-Lee Furness a year ago after 27 years of marriage.
The Australian actor is putting the finishing touches to his tell-all memoir, which promises to drop major shockwaves on his life, and a close friend claims he is afraid to open up.
“He’s obviously nervous because he’s always had his characters or his family to hide behind,” a source told Woman’s Day.
“He has never felt like the real hard man he has been made out to be and he fears that his innate nerdiness will ruin his image,” they added, before admitting that many people close to Hugh are concerned about him.
“To be honest, we’re all a little worried about him. He was so focused on Deb and the kids and making sure they were all taken care of during this separation that he was a little lost there.”

Fans have speculated what the big revelation in the memoir could be, and the source has claimed that Hugh is feeling much more comfortable now that things with ex-wife Deborra, 68, have settled down.
‘There’s a lot to explain! He is now in a much more comfortable situation with Deb… they now have a comfortable and supportive friendship and they are both a lot happier,” the family friend said.
Hugh is living his life as a single man after ending his marriage last year.

They announced their split in a joint statement on September 15, 2023.
“We are blessed to have had a beautiful, loving marriage together as husband and wife for nearly three decades,” they wrote.
“Our journey is now changing and we have decided to part ways to pursue our individual growth.
“To be honest, we’re all a little worried about him. “He’s so focused on Deb and the kids, and making sure they’re all taken care of during this separation, that he’s a little lost there,” the source said.
‘Our family is and will remain our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness.
We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition throughout our lives,” the statement said.
The exes signed the statement “Deb and Hugh Jackman,” adding, “This is the only statement either of us will make.”
They married on April 11, 1996, less than a year after they met, and said “I do” in a Melbourne church. He was 27 at the time and she was 41.
Hugh and Deb have two children together: Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19.
