Lamine Yamal joked about Nico Williams’ defensive qualities after he scored for Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona won the LaLiga match 2-1 after Yamal opened the scoring in the 24th minute despite attempts by Williams to stop him.
Oihan Sancet equalised from the penalty spot for Athletic, with Robert Lewandowski then scoring the winning goal for Barcelona in the second half.
Yamal is a good friend of Williams, the pair played leading roles in Spain’s success at Euro 2024. They embraced before the match at the Olympic Stadium.
Williams has turned down the chance to move to Barcelona this summer, saying he wants to stay at Athletic.

The 17-year-old Yamal joked that he was confident he would find the net as Williams is “not very sharp in defence”.
Yamal told DAZN: ‘My goal? I saw Nico coming to close me down, he’s not very intense in defense, I looked for the opening and went for it. But we’re very good friends.’
Barcelona have won both LaLiga games so far this season, starting their campaign with a 2-1 win away to Valencia.
Hansi Flick’s team will play an away match against Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday evening and will host Real Valladolid next week.
Yamal has played 53 games for Barcelona so far, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists.
