Gunman opens fire into Melbourne home in Tarneit while children sleep inside

A family of five miraculously escaped unharmed after a masked gunman fired six shots into their home in the middle of the night.

Two adults and their three children were asleep in their home on St Michaels Drive in Tarneit, Melbourne’s west, when they were awakened by gunfire at around 3am on September 3.

CCTV footage captured a man wearing a balaclava and dark hoodie walking down the street and stopping at a nearby parked pick-up truck before opening fire at the house.

He quickly fled afterward and is still on the run.

No one in the house was injured.

The man living in the house is said to be known to the police.

Victoria Police released CCTV footage of the incident on Wednesday.
