Gene Gallagher weighs in on THOSE Oasis reunion rumours as he supports his famous father Liam on tour

Gene Gallagher has revealed he doesn’t think an Oasis reunion will ever ‘work’, after rumours surfaced that the famous band were getting back together.

The 23-year-old musician is the son of Liam Gallagher, 51, and the nephew of Noel Gallagher, 57, but the brothers have not spoken in years due to a huge feud.

The Wonderwall hitmakers – which also featured Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll – split in 2009 following a behind-the-scenes feud between the brothers.

Gene, whose mother is All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, is a member of the unsigned band Villanelle. Together they opened for Noel on tour. He often jokes with his sister Anais about the idea of their father rejoining his old band.

He told The Sunday newspaper: ‘We joke about it, but we don’t get into it. She knows what her dad is like and I know what my dad is like. Hey, we’re one big happy family, everybody.

‘It has nothing to do with us. They are both [Liam and Noel] ‘Too smart for that, that would never work.’

Although they don’t yet have a record label, Gene has high hopes for Villanelle, which also features Ben Taylor on guitar, Jack Schiavo on bass and Andrew Richmond on drums.

The band only formed earlier this year and opened for Liam on tour, but the young rock star insisted he’s no fake baby.

He said, ‘People say to me, ‘Ooh, it must be so easy for you to get a band together.’ It’s not. We earn our stripes.’

The Hinge rockers jumped at the chance to take the stage, with Gene recalling showing up in a “huge tour bus” that he says was “even bigger than the venue itself.”

Gene has been writing songs for a number of years and remembers his famous father encouraging him to enter the music scene, but only on the condition that he was good.

He revealed that earlier this year he was only given the chance to open for his father if he performed well, after being warned that he would only find it “snickering” if his performance wasn’t good enough.

The two brothers are reportedly set to reunite at the London stadium on July 8, 9 and 10 in an attempt to settle their very public feud.

Earlier this year, there were rumours that Oasis were getting back together, with three dates ‘secretly’ booked at Wembley Arena.

But Liam confirmed he was unaware of the rumoured plans, explaining to a fan that he was unaware of the arrangement.

A fan asked on Twitter: ‘Liam, is the Oasis reunion really happening next year?’

The musician then joked: “Nobody told me they might get a new singer like that guy from Queen.”
