Geelong road rage: Brawl explodes near Bunnings Norlane

Wild footage has emerged of two men involved in a brawl that turned road rage-filled in the middle of a busy main road near a Bunnings store.

Shocked bystanders filmed the men fighting each other during rush hour traffic on Melbourne Road, near the intersection with Bacchus Marsh Road at Norlane in Geelong’s north, on Monday afternoon.

A witness claimed the two were both driving dangerously before tensions escalated.

“They cut each other off near Bunnings, putting other people’s lives at risk,” she told the Advertiser in Geelong.

‘(They) kept yelling at each other until they came out and got a bruise.

‘As the driver of the pickup truck got into his car and drove away, he pulled up next to me, cut me off, and then happily drove on.’

Victoria Police confirmed they were aware of the incident.

A spokeswoman said no violations were reported and those involved left the scene before officers arrived. No charges have been filed.

Australia is known for its high levels of road rage, according to data collected by Budgetdirect In 2023, it was found that 83 percent of drivers surveyed had ‘experienced shouting, name-calling or rude hand gestures’.

Compared to the previous year, there was an increase of 18 percent.

Another 80 percent of drivers said they were “angry or irritated when other road users drove dangerously.”

“This could include speeding, becoming distracted and/or falling asleep at the wheel,” the report said.
