Four people, including a New York Police Department officer, were shot in a major Brooklyn subway station during a horrific daytime gun battle.
The gun battle took place at Sutter Av Station in East New York, Brooklyn around 3:00 p.m. Officers on the scene are unsure if all of the civilians who were shot were suspects or if there were one or more bystanders.
The shooting took place following reports of a deranged person with a knife. However, further details are not immediately clear.
It was reported that one officer was shot in the right side of his torso.
A second officer was also taken to the hospital but was not shot.

One of the suspects was a woman who was reportedly hit in the head, the New York Post reported.
The officers were taken to Brookdale University Hospital.
The New York City Police Department wrote on their X account: “Due to a police investigation, please avoid the area of Van Sinderen Avenue and Sutter Avenue in Brooklyn. Expect a police presence and traffic delays in the area.”
Police say power has been knocked out on the northbound and southbound tracks from northbound Atlantic to southbound Rockaway.
