Erling Haaland made Marc Cucurella regret singing about him when Manchester City took on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Following Spain’s success at Euro 2024, in which Cucurella played a key role, the left-back was chanted during the parade as he chanted: ‘Haaland, you better shake, because Cucurella is coming’.
However, it was Cucurella who was left with trembling knees as Haaland put his stamp on the season in the 18th minute, shaking off the left-back to open his season lead.
Gary Neville praised Haaland for his goal. Neville told Sky Sports: “You wonder if he’s touched the ball one too many times, but it’s his strength and power that allows him to hold off Cucurella and chip the ball past Sanchez… He’s a beast.”
Cucurella faced criticism in the early stages of his time at Chelsea after leaving Brighton in 2022.

While Spain won the 2024 European Championship, Cucurella showed some excellent performances throughout the tournament.
Haaland, who often starts the season in impressive fashion, hopes to lead City to the title again.
