England fan goes viral for her Mail Sport interview which attracts over 25 million views… as Three Lions supporters react to her wholesome message to Gareth Southgate

An England fan went viral on social media after an interview with Mail Sport following England’s win over the Netherlands.

The Three Lions have reached the final of the European Championship for the second year in a row after Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal in the closing stages on Wednesday evening.

Gareth Southgate’s men fell behind early in the game when Xavi Simons opened the scoring and Kane scored from the penalty spot, with Watkins adding another goal.

And after the match, Mail Sport interviewed sports presenter Jolie Sharpe, who delivered a message to Gareth Southgate.

When asked what her reaction was to Watkins’ goal, she replied: ‘I can’t really remember, there was so much beer in my face, but it was amazing. Bring on the final!’

Sharpe then told Southgate: ‘Keep it up. Block the haters, you’re doing well. Keep hoping and we’ll get there.’

The clip has attracted 25.5 million views on X, formerly known as Twitter, and fans have responded positively to her message to the England manager.

One said: ‘Southgate has definitely pulled the strings today with his substitutions and it has paid off.’

Another wrote: ‘Finally someone who appreciates Southgate!’, while a third added: ‘Absolutely right! Well said.’

“We’re all behind England, it’s finally homecoming,” a fourth fan commented on the Mail Sport video.

However, one fan failed to understand the praise for Southgate, claiming the England manager was ‘lucky’.

He said: Southgate has done nothing spectacular to be praised. The players are brilliant, lucky and like today the referees help them. Southgate is not HE.

England will be aiming to go one step further by winning their first major trophy since 1966 when they take on Spain in the final in Berlin on Sunday.
