First, Kirstie Allsopp’s cousin Jamie revived the family brewery after it had been closed for 62 years.
Now I hear the former hedge fund boss is going to open a pub with the same name as the Allsopps in the 19th century.
And the interesting thing is that it is located on the site of a bar that has been linked to a scandal surrounding Donald Trump.
The Blue Stoops in West London will be located in the building formerly occupied by the Kensington Wine Rooms.
“It has been my lifelong ambition to revive my family’s lost beers and I am delighted to be opening our first pub in 90 years,” said Jamie Allsopp.

The lighthearted message ‘Wine Rooms Heritage’ refers to the 2016 meeting between Trump’s then-adviser George Papadopoulos and Australia’s former high commissioner Alexander Downer, which led to a scandal

He does not say whether he will keep the blue plaque above the door.
The light-hearted announcement from ‘Wine Rooms Heritage’ reads: ‘Donald Trump got into trouble here when a conversation about wine degenerated into Russian hacking.’
It refers to the 2016 meeting between Trump’s then-adviser George Papadopoulos and Australia’s former high commissioner Alexander Downer.
During the meeting, Papadopoulos allegedly bragged that Russia had political information on Hillary Clinton, who lost the US presidential election to Trump a few months later.
Downer passed what he had been told to Australian officials in Canberra, who later informed Washington of the revelations after WikiLeaks released confidential Clinton emails.

This led to allegations of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign, and to the subsequent Mueller report.
Allsopp, who was educated at Eton and has two children with his ex-wife, model Jacquetta Wheeler, gave up his career in finance to become a beer brewer in 2021.
He bought back the Allsopp trademarks from Carlsberg and BrewDog and turned on the taps at Samuel Allsopp and Sons, founded in 1730.
‘[Location, Location, Location presenter] “Kirstie will receive a special discount code so she can buy beer at cost price,” he told me at the time.
