DEAD HENDRIX: The Raw and Unadulterated Voice of Ottawa’s Punk Rap Scene

DEAD HENDRIX is a swiftly growing punk/rap musician from Canada’s Ottawa who has been soaring in the ranks of the local music scene with his own unique sound and genuine lyrics. This 22-year-old Canadian American artist has been writing songs since he was a child, broaching real life issues such as drug abuse, heartbreak, insecurities, and trauma through his music.

A resident of Centretown ‘CT’ in Ottawa, DEAD HENDRIX has managed to create a niche for himself through his raw and uncompromising approach which distinguishes him from the mainstream acts. He first appeared on streaming platforms with a well-received track called “Hold Up” in July 2020, and now enjoys a considerable following with over four thousand followers on Instagram alone.

One of the notable achievements of DEAD HENDRIX is his collaborative EP “Dead Summer” released in 2022 that helped solidify him as a talented versatile artist further. Furthermore, “Mustang” got over 100k streams while his most recent release titled “TILL WE DIE” that made its debut in April 2024 currently stands at over 34K streams.

Despite being so young, DEAD HENDRIX has already caught the attention of more than 100 music and entertainment news outlets, proof enough of the significance he carries within the local sphere. A past feature by another indigenous rapper ‘Kill Xora’ illustrates this even more; thus further elevating him.

In his music, DEAD HENDRIX goes deep into real-life challenges and experiences that have shaped him, delivering each message urgently with emotional intensity. His lyrics are personal narratives reflecting what he has gone through, offering listeners some unedited glimpses into his tribulations.

Apart from music DEAD HENDRIX has also made an appearance in the media where he was featured on AfricaTV Podcasts in April 2020, as well as being interviewed at the 20/20 Podcast in 2021. He was able to share his story and reach more people through these platforms thereby broadening his scope of influence further.

From the look of things, DEAD HENDRIX definitely seems like someone who’s going to take over Ottawa’s local music scene as he grows into it. This unwavering commitment to keep it real together with his ability to tackle challenging and highly emotional subjects through his musical endeavors is what has set him apart from this overwhelmingly saturated industry.
