Ahead of the series’ return, Davina, 56, revealed what she has in common with the contestants and recalled a particularly touching moment from the new series.

Davina told The Mirror: ‘Our age group, we’re the first of a new generation of midlifers. We’re the people who were at raves, we were doing drugs, we’re the pioneers. We were naughty, we were fun, we were outrageous – and then we had kids.

“We’re settled, we’ve been good people for 18 years, and now we’re like, ‘Okay, let’s go again.’ It’s like we’re getting a second chance at life, and we’re making sure the kids see that second chance.”

Davina said of the moment: ‘I’ve been caught in a big crying fit. And I’ve seen it already. There’s something very touching about it. It was like I was saying to the parents about their children: “They’re not here to laugh. They’re not making fun of you.”‘

The program’s structure remains the same, but there will be an addition.

With their children watching, the contestants were hesitant to get physical. But season two will feature a secret sex dungeon — with the option to turn the lights off.

My Mum, Your Dad launched in 2023 and was billed as the middle-aged version of Love Island.

The second season was confirmed in October, but an exact release date has not yet been announced.

In the first trailer for the new series, several actors burst into tears when they see a particularly touching moment between two parents.

Meanwhile, things look set to get pretty steamy as two parents engage in a hot kiss in the bedroom – much to the horror of their adult children.

The cast includes Christian and his son Lucas; David and his daughter Tiana; Maria and daughter Livia; Andy and daughter Issy; Davina, Clare and daughter Aimee; Vicky and daughter Angharad; Jenny and her son Malachi; and Danny and his son Ellis.

It remains to be seen who will be paired with whom, but the series will return to the big screen in September.

My Mum, Your Dad airs on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
